Pokemon Soul Silver! EV training?

I have a question regarding EV training. Ok, I was EV training my Beldum in speed and I managed to obtain 50 EVs in speed, but in an attempt to get 60 speed EVs, my Beldum had died. I'm wondering, are my 50 EVs I had invested into my Beldum's speed stat still there? Or were they lost because of the fact, my Beldum died? I went to the Pokemon center to heal my Beldum and I don't know if my 50 speed EVs still there. I'm hoping so because they should not have been reset. *Sigh*;; :/
